National symbols of India were picked up at various times and now officially adopted by the Republic of India. Below is the list of officially adopted symbols of India along with several other symbols like national flower, currency, heritage animal, bird, fruit and tree.

तिरंगा – राष्ट्रीय ध्वज

The tricolour flag with saffron (केसरिया) at top, middle is white and green at the bottom against equal proportion having Ashoka Chakra or Dharma Chakra with 24 spokes is the National Flag of India.

जन गण मन – राष्ट्रीय गान

जनगणमन अधिनायक जय हे, भारतभाग्यविधाता।
पंजाब सिंध गुजरात मराठा, द्राविड़ उत्कल बंग।

Jana Gana Mana is the National Anthem of India , written by Rabindranath Tagore and the standard playing time is 52 seconds. The song played or sung on various occasions in India, It reads as follows:

Vande Mataram is composed by Bankimchandra Chatterji in Sanskrit languages and the song was part of the Indian independence movement. The song was adopted as the National Song of India in October 1937, read as follows in Devnagari script.

अशोक स्तम्भ – राष्ट्रीय चिन्ह्

The State Emblem of India is adopted as national emblem of India, features Lion Capital of Ashoka and Ashoka Chakra in the centre. The emblem features four Asiatic lions at top and again The Lion, Horse, Bull and Elephant separated by wheels at bottom.

मोर – राष्ट्रीय पक्षी

Blue peacock or Indian peafowl is a very large and brightly coloured bird, native to the Indian subcontinent. The male peacock is known as mayura in Sanskrit and associated with Hindu deities, temple art and traditions.

बाघ – राष्ट्रीय पशु

Bengal Tiger also known as the Royal Bengal tiger is the national animal of India, Current population is 3,346 individuals. India is the only country in the world with largest populations of tigers anywhere in the world, followed by Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan.

The sacred lotus or simply lotus flower is the national flower of India, Today cultivated for its edible seeds known as Makhana. Indian lotus is sacred to Hindu and associated with Hindu deities.

Mango fruit is the national fruit of India with several hundred variety,size, color, shape and sweetness. Mangoes are an important export product from the country and India is the largest producer of Mangoes and Guava.

बरगद – राष्ट्रीय वृक्ष

biggest trees in the world by size and canopy coverage. The tree is considered sacred in India by Hindu along with bael, peepal and Udumbara.
