RTO has database of vehicles for various states of India, offers services such as issues driving licences, collection of vehicle excise duty and sells personalised registrations.
All road vehicles in India are tagged with a registration known as number plate issued by the district-level Regional Transport Office (RTO). Number plates are placed in the front and back of the vehicles with proper state code and city number such as MH-12 ( Pune City) and International vehicle registration code for India is IND.
