    very good info.

  • Himanshu says:

I have travelled by NH7- Bangalore to Kanyakumari

  • Ankur Varshney says:

I have traveled 95% of the longest highway NH7 all the way from Kanyakumari to Allahabad (near Varanasi) and here are my findings :
    1) Kanyakumari to Bangalore : Delight !!! You can drive @ 130-150Km/hr without issues. Only small part near hosur is being widened so expect a couple of diversions.

    2) Bangalore to Hyderabad : Simply Awesome !!!

    3) Hyderabad to Nagpur : PATHETIC ! Don’t take NH7 between Hyderabad to Nagpur. Nearly 70Kms of road is non-existing after Pandharkawada and you will repent badly as there are no inner roads or diversions to avoid once you have crossed Adilabad. Take the alternative route via state highway via Karimnagar > Ramagundam > Balharshah > Hingan ghat > Buti Bori > Nagpur. You will need to drive 35 odd Kms extra, however, you will love your choice later. The road is very good except for 1 or 2 kms near the railway crossing.

    4) Nagpur to Jabalpur : Not so great ! From Nagpur to Seoni you need to pass through Pench Tiger Reserve forest which may be an adventure, however the road is narrow, without divider and full of rough patches which will allow you to lose significant time if your destination is Lucknow/Allahabad/Varanasi. Alternative route (NH26B / 26) is much better : Nagpur > Chhindawara > Narsinghpur > Sagar > Lalitpur > Jhansi. After Jhansi take diversion towards Kanpur (NH25) if you are heading towards Lucknow/Varanasi OR towards Gwalior(NH75) if you are heading towards Delhi. NH25 is really good. NH75 should be good too though I haven’t traveled on NH75 on this part of the journey.

    5) Jabalpur to Varanasi : Not good, not so bad either. Manageable.

Crux : NH7 is best in the southern part of India while not so great in MP region as of September 2014 when I traveled across the North and south India.

    • Sandeep Karak says:

      What is this then? Nh44

      • Ankur Varshney says:

NH44 is the new longest highway of India. It has come into being by merging seven previously differently numbered national highways in full or part starting from former NH 1A from Srinagar in Jammu & Kashmir, former NH 1 in Punjab and Haryana ending at Delhi, part of former NH 2 starting from Delhi and ending at Agra, former NH 3 (popularly known as Agra-Bombay highway) from Agra to Gwalior, former NH 75 and former NH 26 to Jhansi, and finally former NH 7 via Nagpur, and Adilabad, Nizamabad, Hyderabad and Kurnool in Telengana / Andhra Pradesh,[2] and Bangalore, Dharmapuri, Salem, Tirunelveli and Madurai terminating at Kanyakumari. Total length of 3745 kms.
There were markings of NH44 on major portions of NH7 already completed in 2014 itself. I think NHAI has already completed in the other sections of older highways which are now a part of new NH44.
