Traveling internationally for the first time can be a scary thing to consider – but totally worth the extra effort. You need to consider things like getting your passport renewed, laws in the country you’re visiting and a different language. These can all make international travel more difficult. On the other hand, seeing new places and learning about foreign cultures makes it all worth it.

Take a look at these 4 reasons you should take the plunge and go visit the places you’ve always dreamed of!
It can be an eye-opening experience to learn about other people in the world who do things differently than what we are accustomed to. It’s also important in today’s world to be aware of cultural values instead of generalizing people based on where they are from or what country they live in. It can be a fascinating experience to meet someone from another country and learn about his or her customs and lifestyle. Doing so will help you develop “cultural sensitivity,” which can help you relate and communicate with others who may be different than you. In today’s America, this is a great skill set to have!
In your normal routine of life, it’s easy to get stuck in a rut doing the same things day in and day out. Sometimes we even forget why we are living where we do or why we are still working at that same job we don’t enjoy. Exposing yourself to other places and cultures is a different way to network and meet new people, discover things you enjoy, and figure out what really makes you happy! It’s not uncommon for people to travel internationally and choose to live there permanently when they visit a new place and fall in love with it. Think about traveling to a tropical island with a culture completely different than yours. Would you consider moving their permanently?
Traveling abroad will help you get out of your comfort zone and gain new hobbies. Things you would most likely never do at home are much more likely to happen when you step away from the comfort of your home. Just think, it’s a Saturday afternoon at home and you have the entire day to do whatever you want. How likely are you to learn or engage in something new? Things like finally choosing the most played casino games in India, join an extreme sporting event, drive to the nearest ocean or lake and jump off the highest spot you can find aren’t likely to consume your day. When travelling abroad, you are more likely to leave all caution to the wind and try new things! Who knows? You may travel and come back with a new hobby. That rock climbing adventure you went on in Ireland might may have just inspired you to continue rock climbing when you return home! Future rock climbing trips in other countries? Yes, please!
Even if you are a creature of habit, you will find travelling internationally to be incredibly exhilarating. You will discover new things, learn new information, and possibly even pick up a new language! Just relax, go with the flow and get to know yourself along the way.
If you are on the fence about traveling internationally, take the leap of faith and go! No matter what type of person you are and what things you enjoy, there is somewhere magical in a faraway place just waiting for you to visit. It will bring you joy and you will come back a refreshed, better version of yourself.
