Four Largest Peaceful Gathering of Kumbh Mela in India

Kumbh Mela is held every third year at one of the four places by rotation Haridwar, Allahabad , Nashik and Ujjain. The rivers at these four places are the Ganges at Haridwar, the confluence or Sangam of the Ganges and the Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati at Allahabad, the Godawari at Nashik and the Shipra at Ujjain.

Kumbh Mela -Allahabad

Allahabad is also known as Prayag means place of offerings and Triveni Sangam the meeting place of the rivers Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Sarasvati. The city hosts the Maha Kumbh Mela at the Triveni Sangam every twelve years and the Ardh Kumbh Mela every six years, the largest religious gathering in the world.

Kumbh Mela -Haridwar

Haridwar is one of the seven holiest places to Hindus known as Sapta Puri and one of four sites where drops of Amrit falls. Kumbha Mela being celebrated every 3 years in one of the 4 places, and thus every 12 years in Haridwar on the banks of the river Ganges.

Kumbh Mela -Nashik

Nashik is said to be the abode of Lord Rama and a site for more than 100 ancient temples including Trimbakeshwar Shiva Temple and Kalaram Temple. Kumbh Mela is celebrated every 12 years in Nashik, on the bank of river Godavari and Known as Sinhastha Kumbh Mela.

Kumbh Mela -Ujjain

Ujjain is an ancient city in the Malwa region of central India in the state of Madhya Pradesh. The city of Lord Mahakal is situated on the eastern bank of the Kshipra River and one of the only four holiest places of Kumbh Mela. The next Kumbh Mela will be held at Ujjain as Purna Kumbh Mela 2016,Kumbh at Ujjain is also called Simhastha Kumbh Mela.
