Dragon fruit, also known as pitaya and Kamalam in Hindi, One of the exotic fruit that is getting popularity in Indian market, also Bharat is now increasing the area under cultivation and production of the dragon fruit. Some of the major dragon fruit-producing states in India includes:

Gujarat

Gujarat is the largest producer of dragon fruit in India, The fruit’s shape is like a lotus, and it has been given a new Sanskrit name, kamalam. Dragon fruit also listed as one of the most exotic fruits grown in India along with Kiwi, Rose apple and Avocado.

Maharashtra

Maharashtra is one of the leading dragon fruit-producing states in India. The climate and soil conditions in regions like Jalgaon, Nagpur, and Pune are suitable for dragon fruit cultivation. The Maharashtra government promotes dragon fruit cultivation through subsidies.

Karnataka

Karnataka, particularly the regions of Kolar and Chikkaballapur, is also involved in dragon fruit production.The fruit is also grown in neighbouring Maharashtra state and northeastern India.

Tamil Nadu, districts like Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, and Coimbatore have been successful in dragon fruit farming. The total area under cultivation of Kamalam in India is more than 3,000 hectares.
