How to Reach Panna National Park

Panna National Park is the fifth Tiger reserve of Madhya Pradesh and one of the best maintained national park of India, got Award of Excellence by the Ministry of Tourism. Once the entire tiger population of Panna National Park had been eliminated by illegal hunting and poaching but now there are healthy population of tigers found in Panna National Park.

Nearest Airpot and railway station to Panna National Park is Khajuraho, At a distance of 30-35kms from the park. Satna is the another closest railway station to Panna National Park, Offers a very good train connectivity from the rest of the Indian cities.

Tigers of Panna

Relocation of tiger and tigresses under the Tiger Reintroduction Project was done from Bandhavgarh National Park, Kanha National Park and Pench Tiger Reserve. Today, The Panna Tiger Reserve has growing tiger population over an area of 542.67 km2, from 0 to more than 30 plus over a decade.

Panna is not only popular for Tiger’s but also one of the best national parks in India to spot leopards in the wild.

There are two entry gates Madla and Hinauta, open jeep safaris enter the ark from Madla Village which is only 25 kms from Khajuraho. The park can be covered in two safari but the sighting of animals like big cats is always a matter of chance.

Wildlife

The park is home to species of reptiles, birds and among the big animals found in Panna National Park are the bengal tiger, Indian leopard, wild dog, wolf, hyaena and very rare caracal wild cat along with chinkara, nilgai, sambhar and sloth bear.

Birdlife

Panna National Park also supports 200 bird species including 5 species of vultures including red-headed vulture, Indian vulture and Himalyan vulture.

Changeable hawk-eagle and blossom-headed parakeet. Migratory birds includes bar-headed goose, Scimitar babbler and more species of ducks.
