Top 5 Groundnut Producing States of India

Although in various states of India groundnut is cultivated as one or both kharif and rabi fasal, Gujarat has ideal climate and soil and also the largest producer of groundnut in India followed by Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu.

Gujarat

Gujarat is the largest producer of groundnut in India, Also grown during Kharif and rabi seasons. Major groundnut producing districts of Gujarat are Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Amreli in Saurashtra and Kutch regions. 

Rajasthan

Rajasthan is second largest producer of groundnut in India with Jalore, Jodhpur, Barmer and Jaisalmer districts contributing most of the groundnut, 17 % to the India.

Tamil Nadu

Thiruvannamalai, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar and Ramanathapuram districts along with Villupuram, Vellore, Namakkal, Salem, Erode and Cuddalore are the major groundnut producing districts in Tamil Nadu.

Andhra Pradesh

Coastal districts of Guntur, Godavari and Krishna are the major producer of groundnut in Andhra Pradesh. Groundnut is cultivated in an area of 8.23 lakh hectares with a production of 5.19 lakh tonnes

Karnataka

Karnataka is listed in one of the top 5 groundnut producing states of India followed by Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Telangana, Collectively these states contribute most of the groundnut production in India.
