Top 5 Jute Producing States of India

Jute पटसन is a long, rough bast fiber produced from Corchorus olitorius flowering plants. India is the largest producer of jute, followed by Bangladesh. As of my last knowledge the top 5 jute-producing states in India are West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, Bihar Andhra Pradesh and Meghalaya, Tripura as well.

West Bengal

West Bengal is the leading jute-producing state in India and is often referred to as the “Jute State.” The majority of India’s jute production comes from this state.

Bihar

Bihar is another significant jute-producing state in India. It is known for its jute cultivation in regions like Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, and Purnea.

Assam

Assam also has a substantial jute production industry, primarily in the districts of Dhubri, Kokrajhar, and Bongaigaon.

Odisha

Jute is cultivated in various districts of Odisha, contributing to the state’s jute production. The coastal districts like Kendrapara, Balasore, Ganjam, Jajpur and other like Nayagarh cultivate jute plants in large quantities in Odisha.

Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh is also among the top jute-producing states in India, with jute cultivation taking place in regions like West Godavari, Krishna, and Guntur.
