5 Sanctuaries to Spot Hoolock Gibbon in North East India

Hoolock Gibbon is the only Ape found in India, a primate species from the gibbon family of Hylobatidae. The Hoolock Gibbons of India are second largest of the gibbons, found only at south of Brahmaputra and east of the Dibang rivers in North East Indian states.

Hoollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary, Assam


Hoollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary in Jorhat district of Assam is an isolated protected area, surrounded by tea gardens near to Patkai mountain range. The sanctuary has a very rich biodiversity and home to only apes of India, the hoolock gibbon as well as only nocturnal primate, Bengal slow loris.

Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary is a virgin forest and famous wildlife reserve of Tripura state. The sanctuary host rich variety of flora and fauna including Golden Langur, Capped Langur and Hollock Gibbon.

Ntangki National Park, Nagaland

Ntangki National Park is one of the finest wildlife park in Nagaland and home to very rare hoolock gibbon and golden langur. The wildlife park located in Peren district of Nagaland, 35 kilometers from Dimapur.
